This is the original "A" version of the MIL-C-5015 connector that has a hard (blue) insulator. The MS-A version is Inactive for new military designs, however 97 series connectors can still be purchased under the inactive military part numbers, but use caution. MIL-DTL-5015 now uses a resilient (gray) insulator. The obsolete MS-A connector can be purchased with either the original hard (blue) insulator shown here, or the newer sealed construction, using a soft (gray) insulator and an "-RES" suffix on the part number - you must specifiy which insulator you prefer.
