• We are by far the largest ITT Cannon connector distributor in the world. We are larger than all other franchised distributors combined (some of them multi-billion dollar companies). PEI has been assembling Cannon connectors since 1952.

Why use PEI?
PEI-Genesis has the size, scope and technical resources to delight our customers, but our most important ability is speed. We can build, test, package, and ship connectors faster than anyone else. World's fastest assembly time
Our cycle time to build a connector from component parts is 1.3 days. That means that 98% of the connector orders we print on the production floor are built, tested, packaged and shipped the same day. When you stand back and look at the entire order entry process across all time zones, we can consistently deliver finished connectors from component stock in less than 48 hours. Most importantly, we don't do this for "special orders"; we do this for every order, every day. Our South Bend factory builds over 38,000 custom connectors a day, all in 1.3 days. There is only one other facility in the world that can boast this level of performance – the PEI-Genesis factory in Southampton England. What does this mean to you? It means that we can consistently do what we promise. There is no greater value that anyone can offer you.

Recently there has been a rush by some internet marketers to duplicate our 48 hour promise. They try to counter our ability by pre-building "popular" items and holding them in stock in finished form. This gives the illusion that they can match our same day capability, but they can only do so for a handful of part numbers. This will never truly improve overall customer satisfaction. To understand why, you need to look more closely at the nature of our connector business.

We can build exactly what you need
Using our pool of 30,000 components, we build tens of thousands of finished part variations each year; however, the number of times we build the same variation is shockingly low. 43% of the items we build each year we build once, for a single customer, and never again for the remainder of the year. 69% of the items we build we do so 3 times or less in an entire year. A staggering 97% of the items we build, we build 10 times or less, and never again for the entire year. You really need to think about this; over $200 million dollars of value-added connectors assembled at a rate of 38,000 a day, sold to 16,000 customers worldwide and 69% of the part numbers are built and sold less than three times a year!

That's not all. To see the full scope of the problem you need to couple this with the typical order size. Although we build over $200 million of connectors a year, our modal average order size is just one piece. That means we build more one-piece orders than any other order size! 50% of the orders we build are for 5 pieces or less. 65% of our orders are for 10 pieces or less. When you realize that the typical order size is so small, and the variability of the parent part numbers is so high, the only way to truly satisfy our customers is to hold the piece parts and be able to build the variations very quickly. PEI-Genesis has mastered this capability. And we are unique in the all the world. No one else can honestly and reliably ship the volume, the variations and the lot sizes which PEI-Genesis ships day after day. We have taken our mass-customization expertise and applied it to power supplies.  We have an extraordinary group of engineers and production people who can craft a highly tailored power supply and ship you a fully tested functioning prototype - normally in 24 hours, but always in under 120 hours. Full production lots ship in 3 weeks or less.

Speed means guaranteed supply and real cost savings for you
Rapid delivery has other powerful benefits for our customers (and for PEI-Genesis). When a customer wants guaranteed supply they may enter into various forms of bonded stock or even consignment deals where the customer holds finished goods in an attempt to ensure a reliable source of supply. Because we can build the exact part you need so rapidly, we do not need to hold any finished goods, nor do we need to push the risk and costs of holding inventory on to our customers. We can actually bond the components you need to make the finished parts you want. Our rapid assembly capability then allows us to build the exact part you need and ship it as quickly as someone that holds finished goods.

Keeping the inventory in its most flexible component form has one critical advantage for both you and for PEI-Genesis; it lowers risk. Many customers buy a number of items. Many of these items share common components. By bonding components instead of finished goods, we give you the ability to change the mix of finished parts as your needs change. If you have an Engineering Change Notice (ECN), or your product-mix changes, we simply enter the change in our ERP system and all component reservations are instantly revised. The parts are never touched or moved in the warehouse. Since there are no finished goods, changes in customer usage patterns rarely create excess inventory. If we stocked finished goods instead, any changes would inevitably create excess finished goods inventory on the shelf, or worse, might be gobbling up critical components. Our speed lowers the costs and risk for everyone in the supply chain. It gives our customers the flexibility to use a pool of bonded components in any way they see fit to meet their immediate needs. And since this entire process is done electronically, there is virtually no overhead associated with this process.

To produce the same results, a handful of competitors will pre-build the parts and hide them in their warehouse, or worse, hide them in your warehouse! This approach is high risk for the supplier and for you. With this approach, a design or product-mix change will create excess inventory and financial pain for everyone in the channel. PEI-Genesis' speed of supply is truly a virtue that pays direct dividends to our customers.
