PEI-Genesis Chairman & CEO Steven Fisher Receives Penn State Alumni Fellow Award

Philadelphia, PA (October 11, 2011) On October 5, 2011, the Penn State Alumni Association named Mr. Steven L. Fisher, CEO and chairman of PEI-Genesis, Inc., an Alumni Fellow. This award recognizes outstanding professional achievement and is the most prestigious honor given by the Penn State Alumni Association. Since the establishment of the Alumni Fellow program in 1973, this honor has been granted to only 689 alumni, just one-eighth of one percent of all living alumni.

The title of “Alumni Fellow” has been designated by the University as permanent and lifelong, and Mr. Fisher is one of 24 alumni awarded in 2011. Each year, the program invites its recipients to visit the campus and speak to the University community, in order to share their knowledge and expertise.

Mr. Fisher is a Philadelphia native who received his B.A. in Liberal Arts from Penn State in 1970 and then earned a law degree from the University of Chicago in 1973. That same year, he joined PEI-Genesis, and was named president in 1980. He is credited with taking PEI, a small, family-owned business started in 1946 by his father, and transforming it into the world’s fastest assembler of precision connectors and power supplies. His unique vision took the company from $3 million to $240 million, and he has overseen its growth into a truly global venture, with 27 branches around the world.

Mr. Fisher has served on many non-profit boards in the Philadelphia area and volunteers with Penn State’s English Department, where he guest lectures and has helped to endow a teaching mentorship and writer-in-residence program. He lives with his wife, Ricki, and his three children, Eli, Zach, and Rebecca, in Rydal, PA.
